Justice in Harris County Criminal Courts should be fair, consistent, and rooted in dignity for every person who enters the courtroom. I’m James Hu, and I’m running for Judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 14 to bring steady, experienced leadership to the bench—guided by integrity and respect for the rule of law.
Proven Experience in the Criminal Justice System
With nearly a decade of service in the criminal justice system, including time spent as a former Assistant United States Attorney, James has handled cases at both the state and federal levels—ranging from low-level misdemeanor infractions to complex federal litigation. Currently serving as a Chief Assistant District Attorney at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he works closely with law enforcement to refine investigations and evaluate evidence, ensuring every case is built on a solid foundation. From coordinating discovery to sharpening courtroom strategy, James focuses on thorough, high-quality work that leads to fair resolutions and upholds public safety.

Meet James Hu
James Hu is a Houston native and proud Taiwanese American running for Judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 14. His parents immigrated from Taiwan and built small businesses in Houston, instilling in him the values of hard work, service, and giving back.
He graduated from Bellaire High School, earned his bachelor’s degree at Trinity University, and returned to the University of Houston to complete his law degree and MBA. Harris County is home, and he is ready to bring fairness, experience, and respect to every case.
