Criminal Court at Law No. 14
James Hu is running to serve as the next Judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 14. He believes justice should be fair, consistent, and rooted in dignity for every person who enters the courtroom. He also believes Harris County deserves a judge with the experience to understand the law, the temperament to lead with steadiness, and the integrity to make decisions based on facts and fairness—every time.
Experience in the Criminal Justice System
As a Texas prosecutor for nearly a decade, he has handled cases at both the state and federal level—from low-level offenses to complex matters. He has practiced in county and district courts in Harris and Fort Bend Counties, as well as in federal court in the Southern District of Texas. He previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney, giving him additional experience prosecuting cases at the federal level.
Today, he serves as a Chief Assistant District Attorney at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, working closely with law enforcement to strengthen investigations, evaluate evidence, and build strong cases for court. This experience has taught him what it takes to keep courtrooms running efficiently while protecting due process and public safety.
